Air introduced through the double wall complements the main ventilation system that draws fresh air in at roof level and distributes it tempered (heated in winter and cooled in summer) through fan coil units in the office ceiling voids. Internal carbon dioxide levels are metered and compared to those in the external atmosphere, and fresh air intake is adjusted accordingly. Return air moves across the floor plates into the 12-storey atrium, from where it rises by convection to be discharged at roof level via energy recovery devices that transfer a large proportion of its heating and cooling energy to incoming fresh air.

As in the Bexley and Brent academies, concrete floors form thermal flywheels, and in the classrooms external air is conducted past the undersides of the slabs by high-level windows automatically opened and shut by the BMS. Low-level opening lights are manually operated. Mechanical ventilation is largely limited to spaces like the lecture and drama theatres, the sports hall, workshops and music rooms, though there are some areas such as the restaurant that are both mechanically and naturally ventilated.
